Our Firm

Karen Dixon is the founder and chief actuary of Dixon Actuarial Services Inc.  Karen has over 25 years of experience specialized in the valuation of employee future benefits.

Prior to founding Dixon Actuarial, Karen was a vice president in the health and benefits practice of a national consulting firm.  She was responsible for managing and overseeing employee future benefit valuations. She was also involved at a national level with peer review and internal standards of practice for these valuations.

Karen has worked with many municipalities, school boards, hospitals and universities in southwestern Ontario throughout her career.

Karen holds an honours Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from the University of Western Ontario. She is a Fellow in good standing of both the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.

Karen is actively involved on post-employment benefit committees with both the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. Karen was the chair of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries committee on Post-Employment Benefit Plans for several years and co-chair of the project oversight group for a research study with the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and commissioned healthcare economists from McMaster University in the development of best estimate assumptions for long-term healthcare trend rates.

Karen is also a member of the Society of Actuaries fellowship examination committee for health and group benefits.  She lives in London Ontario with her husband and two children.

As a smaller firm, we have lower overhead and are able to pass these savings along to our clients in the form of lower fees.  We also price our projects on a fixed fee basis, so there are no unknowns.
